CEV launches the fifth edition of the European Volunteering Capital competition and calls for applications from municipalities of any size that support the implementation of PAVE -The Policy Agenda for Volunteering in Europe.
The European Volunteering Capital Competition aims to promote volunteering at the local level by giving recognition to municipalities that support and strengthen partnerships with volunteer centres and volunteer-involving organisations and celebrate and promote volunteering and the impact made by volunteers.
Find the application form here. The information provided in this form will count as 70% of the final score allocated to each candidate. 30% of the score will be allocated based on the presentation of the candidature during the Candidates Reception organised by CEV and London European Volunteering Capital 2016 on 13 October 2016 in Brussels (BE).
The awarded municipality is chosen from the candidates by an international jury of key personalities connected with volunteering, representing civil society, the private,
for-profit sector, as well as the EU institutions. The judging criteria are the recommendations in the Policy Agenda for Volunteering in Europe (PAVE).
The winning municipality will be announced on or near the 5 December 2016, the International Volunteer Day, at a ceremony hosted by CEV and the current #EVCapital, London. The title will be used in order to raise awareness about volunteering and volunteer-related activities at local, national, regional and EU level.
The winners from the previous editions are Sligo 2017 European Volunteering Capital, London 2016 European Volunteering Capital, Lisbon 2015 European Volunteering Capital and Barcelona 2014 European Volunteering Capital.
The European Volunteer Centre (CEV) is the network of over 80 national, regional and local volunteer centres and volunteer support agencies across Europe. CEV has, for 24 years, promoted and supported volunteering through advocacy, knowledge sharing and capacity building & training. In this way CEV reaches out to the many thousands of volunteers and volunteer organisations who look to volunteer centres a source of support and in particular bringing the European dimension to their work.
